5 WAYS TO AVOID GAINING WEIGHT ON YOUR SUMMER VACATION

Avoid Packing on the Pounds on Your Summer Vacay!

Whenever I think of going on vacation, the three “f”s come to mind: fun, frolic, and food.  Lots and lots of food.  But now I have decided to start rethinking how I can still enjoy my vacations and delectable local fare without adding to my waistline.  Here are 5 tips on how to avoid weight gain on vacation can help.

Stay Active

You may think you don’t need to exercise on your vacation to stay active, especially if you plan to do a lot of walking, but if your hotel does have an exercise room and/or pool, make use of it!  Just spending half an hour swimming or working out will aid you in burning those extra calories you may be consuming on your trip.

Bring Your Own Snacks

Pack healthy snacks and bring them with you.  Not only will that help you to avoid fast and unhealthy food but it will also save you some money.

Avoid the Buffets

Cities do offer them and all-you-can-do is eaten. Try to avoid buffets because you tend to overeat when there is no limit on your food intake.

Eat Throughout the Day

Don’t get so caught up in sightseeing that you forget to eat or you decide to eat later.  Take the time to eat three times a day and snack in between. If you make the mistake of waiting to eat at the end of the day, you may end up overeating.

Do Indulge a Little

Don’t put restrictions on what you consume when vacationing especially when you’re in a city known for certain foods you just have to try.  When in Rome and all that.  I’m so glad I ate an authentic Philly cheesesteak sandwich when I went to Philadelphia a few years ago. Allow yourself certain indulgences!
